Modern Vintage Alden Castle Wedding, MA
When I first met Alicia and Austen, it was at Alicia’s bridal shower one month before her wedding. We had chatted on the phone before and kept in touch via email and text. She insisted I come along to meet her friends and family and enjoy the day with her. To be honest, I was extremely nervous because, you see, this was one of my first weddings as a lead photographer. I felt so blessed and honored that Alicia and Austen trusted me to document their day and were willing to give me such an amazing opportunity.
Alicia and Austen live in Colorado (jelly!) and ultimately decided to have their wedding back in Boston, MA to celebrate with their loved ones. At Alicia’s bridal shower, I immediately felt the love surrounding this couple and bride; everyone was so ecstatic, comfortable with one another, and so welcoming. I felt like I was part of the family myself!
The day was a warm summer weekend. The weather was gorgeous and as I walked into the suite of where Alicia was getting ready, it was a beautiful storm; all the women rushing around getting their makeup touched up, some celebratory drinks to start the day, and most importantly, everyone making sure Alicia was having a smooth morning. Austen got ready at a different hotel, doing the usual guy things on a wedding day - drinking and unwinding before the day gets rolling!
Inside the foyer of Longwood Inn, there is a gorgeous staircase we used for Alicia and Austen’s first look. As I saw Austen come through the doors, I know he was so excited to see his bride; he couldn’t stop fidgeting with his hands. The moment he turned around to see Alicia was magical; the love radiating from these two is undeniable. They had a moment to themselves to be in awe of one another before they became husband and wife on this day.
Let me just say - their wedding party was A HOOT! They made photos go so smoothly and without any hiccups. We laughed, we cheered, and had an awesome mix of serious and playful photos. Alicia wanted to keep an editorial vibe to some of her photos and when I saw what everyone’s outfits were, I was so ecstatic to create with them.
What I love most about weddings is seeing how my couples interact with their friends and family; how supportive everyone is of everything going on and making sure the day is legit a full-on party. I can’t remember any point of the day feeling stressful or hectic for either Alicia or Austen. Once we got to the venue after our wedding party photos, everyone was ready to get the ball rolling! The ceremony was beautiful and simple, being officiated by Alicia’s future brother-in-law.
Everything about this day reminded me of why I do what I do; having an opportunity to capture the beautiful moments of my couples’ day and giving them this story to relive over and over again.
Alicia and Austen, congratulations again on your nuptials!
